Biography
Here I am - Anne Lawaetz Haaning. I am privately married to Rune and together we have two daughters.
I was born and raised on Langeland, where modern facilities were so few that we used our creativity, intuition and nature as our playground.
My childhood home was a home filled with music, culture, art and political conversations. It was equal parts high culture and pop culture.
My parents, who made their living as fashion merchants, are open-minded people who often entertained artists and writers and never refused to exchange in kind anything that could beautify their daily lives. Quality was valued over quantity and they taught me to respect classic craftsmanship virtues.
"I have always enjoyed traveling the world to experience other cultures and my suitcases have often been filled with fabrics, rugs, glass, ceramics and antiques on the return trip."
Throughout the 00s and 10s, my sister and I ran a large retail business with almost 20 fashion stores across much of the country. When we needed more immersion and authenticity, we shut down that adventure.
The following years I spent on an inner journey. I had become a mother for the first and second time and could suddenly feel how, in the struggle for external recognition, I had lost contact with my inner self, which I had used as a compass throughout my life.
It was during those years of spending every day of the week in my home that I rediscovered my passion for creating spaces that resonate on a deeper level.
I set to work with a color palette in one hand and a brush in the other, painting my way closer to my innermost self, room by room. Instead of having screaming white walls, I now had walls and rooms that grabbed me and told a story about my values and dreams. I slowly healed. I found myself and my new life path.
I am an equal measure introvert and extrovert. My creativity originates from my innermost being. But my antennae for social currents, trends and what's happening at the edge of my field of vision can't really be turned off.
I am relationship-driven and love meeting people. For me, our differences as human beings are an inexhaustible source of life wisdom and nourishment. At the same time, I love being alone and often get lost in myself and creative processes without a sense of time and place.
If the above has aroused your confidence and interest and you want to walk more consciously and heart-first into your front door, I look forward to hearing from you.
